Check the Highlands current weather
WELCOME!
Welcome to Highlands, North Carolina, one of the truly unique spots in the Southeast. At nearly 4,000 feet, Highlands enjoys cool summer temperatures while the rest of the Southeast swelters, yet we’re just two hours (give or take) from Atlanta, Athens, Greenville, Asheville, and Knoxville. On a typical hot Southern day, we may well be 10 degrees lower than other towns just down the mountain and up to 15 degrees cooler than nearby cities.
But it’s not only the proximity and climate which make Highlands what it is. It is the beauty, the culture, the lifestyle. If you’re looking for an end-of-the road spot where no one may ever find you–we’ve got it. If you’re looking for a showcase on the side of the mountain with 40-mile views–we’ve got it. If you’re looking for the little cabin in the woods–got it. Or a close-to-town spot to take advantage of all Highlands has to offer–yep, that too. Some acreage for a horse or two? A house on a lake with a mountain view? Your own flowing creek and waterfall? A condo on a golfcourse? A cabin close to the Bartam trail?
Let your imagination go. I’ll be glad to help you however I can. Harry Norman, Realtors, deals with properties all over the area, from Scaly Mountain (which is even closer to Atlanta and Athens) to Lake Toxaway, (which, believe it or not, is still only 2 1/2 hours from Atlanta), Cashiers, Sapphire, Horse Cove, Lake Glenville and all places in between. Please check the Harry Norman Website to see all that’s available in the entire area.
We are located in Highlands; I live about three minutes from town with a view of Shortoff Mountain: pretty darn close to the ideal place. With five Wine Spectator award-winning restaurants, golf courses and hiking trails, fantastic shops and galleries, a world-class art center, a Conde-Naste Award-winning hotel and spa, the Playhouse and Performing Arts Center, and a world-renowned music festival… and on and on. Not many towns in the world as small and charming as Highlands can offer so much. In fact, the Helpful Links page gives information about much of what the Highlands area has to offer. Check it out to see for yourself that I’m not exaggerating.
Also, please visit the Featured Properties page to see what I have listed. And also check out the Blog where I share my thoughts of living in the mountains and what the real estate market offers in this challenging period………(some great deals, by the way!)
